The idea was to do a world music song, rooted in Assamese culture and music. This song is an ode to man’s fearless spirit, perfectly captured through the poetic metaphor of a spunky kite in the open sky. It also showcases the free spirit, which refuses to settle and knows not any boundaries. The song also ultimately refers to the soul being freed. The song is an interplay between Mahalaxmi Iyer and Dominique Cerejo with Assamese folk singers Banjyotsna Borgohain & Sharodi Borah providing perfect context to the setting.

Song synopsis:
Siloni aai mur aagote pore,
aagoli kolapate lori sori baatori diye,
pokhiti ure, uribo khuje,
pokhiti uri uri uri uri deuka meli nilima sume
Mann patang mann patang udney chalaa,
Doriyon mein baandhne woh aasmaan,
Mann patang mann patang udney chalaa,
Naachtaa nidar sambhaale nannhi si jaan,
Kaagazi hai, parwaaz bhi hai, yeh roke se ruktaa kahan,
Laazmi hai awaaragi hai, kisiki ye paglaa hai suntaa kahan,
Mann malang mann malang mann ka bhalaa,
Ho duaa salaam toh hai miltaa wahaan,
Mann malang mann malang mann ka bhalaa,
Rabb ka saath miltaa ye rehtaa jahaan,
Paas bhi hai, talaash bhi hai, yeh dhoonde se milta kahan,
Raag bhi hai bairaag bhi hai, kahin bhi kisi mein ye dhaltaa kahan
Sau rang bhar ke hai udtaa, na kisi ka dar, chinta fikar, mann kahan kartaa ,
Baadal ki seedhi hai chadhtaa, sab toh idhar, iskaa hai ghar, isko hai dar kya ,
Sab toh yahan solaa aanaa kyun gareebi ka ronaa hai yun bewajaah,
Ho Dil balaa ya bhalaa hai, ye kya hai
Traasdi hai mazaak bhi hai, museebat hai hal banke miltaa kahaan
Siloni aai mur aagote pore,
aagoli kolapate lori sori baatori diye,
pokhiti ure, uribo khuje,
pokhiti uri uri uri uri deuka meli nilima sume
Mann patang mann patang udney chalaa,
Doriyon mein baandhne woh aasmaan,
Mann malang mann malang mann ka bhalaa,
Rabb ka saath miltaa ye rehtaa jahaan,
Kaagazi hai, parwaaz bhi hai, yeh roke se ruktaa kahan,
Raag bhi hai bairaag bhi hai, kahin bhi kisi mein ye dhaltaa kahan
Kyaa jaane kis se hai ladtaa, kabhi jaadugar, kabhi rahbar dil banaa firtaa
Khud raah apni hai chuntaa, dil ka safar, dil ke nagar, dil kiya kartaa,
Kisko yahan aazmaana kya hai khona kya paana, hai yun bewajah,
Dil khulaa toh mili main, mujhi mein,
Aap beeti toh baat seekhi ke bus mein kisi ke ye rehtaa kahan
Siloni aai mur aagote pore,
aagoli kolapate lori sori baatori diye,
pokhiti ure, uribo khuje,
pokhiti uri uri uri uri deuka meli nilima sume
Siloni aai mur aagote pore,
aagoli kolapate lori sori baatori diye,
pokhiti ure, uribo khuje,
pokhiti uri uri uri uri deuka meli nilima sume !
Meaning:
A bird has taken off, as the rustling leaves give this news. Its flying high, kissing the sky and
has began the search. The poet quotes a thought from an Assamese song in the initial lines,
to connect to the unstable, ever-in-motion nature of human mind. Mind that never rests is
always on a flight wanting to conquer the skies and everything there is to be conquered on
this earth.
Mind has its own wings and hence is in no one’s control, but one’s own. It has the capacity
to be wild, yet if it wants to be, it can be tamed. It can long for someone and yet, be in a state
of complete disconnect. It is its own guide, its own coach; it creates problems on its own, and
yet has solutions within…
It is always undergoing strife of some sort, sadly…while it is the closest to the god that
resides within us. It may be a wanderer but ultimately, its home is in the body it belongs
to…and hence one can’t find satisfaction anywhere, but within.
